Student Handbook
Welcome to a warm, inclusive, and supportive aerial space where you are encouraged to move, explore, and thrive at your own pace.
From the moment you step into the studio, the focus is on helping you feel confident, accepted, and safe. This is a nurturing environment designed for you to build strength, trust your body, and enjoy your aerial journey — whether you’re brand new or continuing your practice.
This handbook is here to make everything feel simple, easy, and clear, so you can relax and focus on what truly matters: feeling supported, empowered, and at home in the air.

What to Expect in Your First Class
Starting something new can feel exciting and a little nerve-wracking — that’s completely normal. Your first class is designed to feel simple, supportive, and welcoming.
In your first class, you can expect:
- A friendly welcome from your instructor, and a chance to meet your fellow classmates
- A guided warm-up to prepare your body safely
- Clear explanations and demonstrations
- Options and modifications so you can move at your own pace

You’ll be encouraged to take breaks whenever you need. There’s no pressure to perform, keep up, or get anything “right”. Building confidence, feeling safe, and enjoying the experience matter most.
You don’t need to be strong, flexible, or experienced — everything is taught step by step in a nurturing and empowering way.
Enrolments & Bookings
- All classes must be booked in advance
- Bookings are managed through the Groovio app for ease and convenience

Preparing For Classes
- We recommend wearing 3/4 or full length tights and a tight fitting top.
- No footwear is necessary.
- Please avoid clothing with zippers or any sharp objects.
- Remove all jewellery including watches and Fitbits. Small earrings are fine.
- Bring a drink bottle to class. And a sweat towel during the hotter months if needed.
- Upon arrival, wait upstairs until your class is called down.
Location & Parking
You’ll find us at Unit 8, 3-15 Jackman Street Southport.
Take the first driveway into the complex and follow it to the back. We are the last unit on the right side.
We have 2 parking spots allocated to our unit that are directly in front of our glass doors. There is also plenty of free visitor parking in the centre of the complex.
Please avoid parking in front of the other units as those spots are reserved for their staff and customers AT ALL TIMES.
Please avoid parking in front of our roller door - these spots are reserved for our staff.

During Classes
Filming
- There is strictly NO filming of instructors during demonstrations and classes.
- An instructor may grant permission for students to film a particular skill, if they feel comfortable in doing so.
- Students may film themselves during class times. Please be respectful of other students if you are filming yourself, and ensure they are happy to be filmed if they are in the background.
- Posting videos to social media is fine, as long as anyone in the background has approved to be in the frame.
Cleanliness
- If you bleed or make a mess on the equipment please notify staff ASAP. We get it, accidents happen! Please make staff aware so they can deal with it promptly.
- Bring a sweat towel in hotter months.
- After classes and sessions all students are required to wipe down the crash mats they were using. Spray and wipes are provided for this.

Late Arrivals
If you arrive late to class, a set warm-up must be completed before joining the class. This is essential for safety and injury prevention.
- You may be asked to complete the warm-up independently
- Joining the class without completing the warm-up is not permitted
- If too much of the class has passed, you may be unable to participate

Spectators
Parents are welcome to stay and watch from upstairs during our kids classes.
While we do not encourage regular spectators for adult classes we do allow the occasional family member or friend to watch. Spectators must stay upstairs and are not permitted in the training area.
Children 12yrs and under are not to be left upstairs without adult supervision during classes or open training sessions. Unless the child is a current student and has approval from management.
Open Training
Students participation in open training sessions must:
- Complete their own warm up of at least 10 minutes prior to using aerial equipment
- Only train skills that you have been taught, or are of a safe level
- Not teaching other students skills
- Wipe down crash mats after use
